Rock 'n Roll Ghost S8 E07 - Filmmaker James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross)

Welcome back to the Rock 'n Roll Ghost Podcast. On this week's episode, the Ghost speaks with filmmaker James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross, At Close Range, House of Cards) about his career and the project he's waiting to shoot, Reagan and Gorbachev, which will star Michael Douglas, Christoph Waltz and Noomi Rapace. Foley talks about his early days making Reckless (Aidan Quinn, Daryl Hannah), At Close Range (Sean Penn, Christopher Walken) and directing Madonna in iconic videos (Papa Don't Preach) and the box-office bomb Who's That Girl. He is also quite frank in his original disliking of the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels he made, having to film both back to back with scripts that were never at a filmable stage. But he credits star Dakota Johnson for being a professional of the highest order who helped keep him focused and in the game. He also mentions how happy he is that the films have a global fan base that show their appreciation for his work. Interspersed with tales of filming Glengarry Glen Ross (Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon), Fear (Mark Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon) and The Chamber (Gene Hackman), Foley also discusses having Penn as a house mate for nearly 2 years and about hanging out in London with Penn and Madonna during their marriage. Strap yourself in for a pretty wild ride through a spectacular career, one that Foley says is just getting started.
